To celebrate Earth Day, Bulacan State University (BulSU) led the second Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) Digital Caravan with a theme “Restore our earth from uplands to wetlands” on April 22 from one o’clock to 5 o’clock in the afternoon which was participated by more than a thousand teachers and students on Zoom and Facebook Live.

Atty. Asis Perez, Senior Legal Advisor of Tanggol Kalikasan and representative of the Partnership for Biodiversity Conservation 3 project, welcomed the participants, shared the history of Earth Day, and gave his appreciation for the number of attendees who graced the event. It was followed by an inspiration message from Dr. Cecilia Navasero-Gascon, University President of BulSU, who encouraged the participants to take initiatives in protecting and conserving the environment.

Two lectures were given for the first part of the caravan. Dr. Edwin Tadiosa, Assistant Director for Research Program Management of BulSU, talked about biodiversity conservation of uplands and wetlands. Dr. Elizabeth Chua, Director of the Extension Service Office (ESO) of BulSU, shared about the initiatives of BulSU for the environment through the Daloy ng Kalikasan approach. Videos produced by BulSU ESO were also shown such as biodiversity in Bulacan and BulSU in Action. Students through YESO, a campus-based environmental organization in BUlSU, challenged youth Bulakenyo to take small initiatives that matter through an audio-visual presentation.

For the second part of the program, #WildlifePhilippinesPodcast was introduced as an educational resource and a campaign on biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection.
