On September 21, 2024, the DEPED - Schools Division of Lucena City successfully hosted the International Coastal Clean-up Drive and Tree Planting at Brgy. Ransohan, Lucena City. This vital initiative aimed to raise environmental awareness and take practical steps toward the conservation of our natural resources.

Approximately 300 selected participants, including teachers, student leaders, SDO personnel, and external partners, joined the event to contribute to a cleaner, greener environment.

Following the tree planting activity, a capacity-building session was held, focusing on "Awareness to Action: Capacity Building for Youth Environmental Advocacy." Presented by the Tanggol Kalikasan’s Executive Director, Atty. Fritzielyn Q. Palmiery, , the session covered TK's vision, mission, and ongoing environmental initiatives. The talk emphasized the importance of empowering youth to become effective advocates for sustainability, especially as we face pressing global issues such as climate change, deforestation, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss.

The activity aimed to:

  1. Educate learners on key environmental issues, including climate change and sustainable practices.
  2. Enhance participants' advocacy and leadership skills.
  3. Encourage the adoption of sustainable habits in everyday life.

This initiative sought to bridge the gap between awareness and action, equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to create lasting change in their communities.
