On January 18, 2025, Tanggol Kalikasan, Inc. actively participated in the Kiwanis Week: Tree Growing Activity with the theme “Roots for Change! A Greener Tomorrow.” This initiative, organized by Kiwanis International Luzon District in celebration of its 110th anniversary, brought together 125 participants from various organizations and institutions, all dedicated to environmental preservation and sustainability.
Among the attendees were representatives from Tanggol Kalikasan, the 14 Kiwanis Clubs of Kiwanis International-Philippine Luzon District-Division 4C, the Key Club of Mayao Parada Agricultural Integrated High School, Circle K of Maryhill College, the Sangguniang Barangay ng Mayao Parada, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines – Lucena City National High School (LCNHS) Silangang Mayao Extension, Mayao Parada Elementary School, the Supreme Elementary Learner Government of Lucena East 7 Elementary School, faculty and student leaders of Mayao Parada Agricultural Integrated High School, PENRO Tayabas, and the Association of DepEd Lucena Administrative Officers II (ADLAO).
The event aimed to promote environmental preservation and support the government’s advocacy for enhanced environmental awareness across all sectors. In coordination with PENRO-Quezon, a total of 250 Narra tree seedlings were planted at Mayao Parada Agricultural Integrated High School, CCF Village, Brgy. Mayao Parada, Lucena City. As part of the program, participants collectively recited a Pledge of Commitment, reinforcing their dedication to environmental stewardship.
Before the tree planting, a short program was held to educate participants on the importance of environmental conservation. Lt. Gov. Elena Melanie Baldeo of Kiwanis Division 4C (AY 2024-2025) delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing the critical role of trees in sustaining life and the collective responsibility to protect the environment.
Through this initiative, Tanggol Kalikasan reaffirmed its commitment to environmental lawyering and advocacy, continuing its mission to foster a greener and more sustainable future. The event not only strengthened community ties but also served as a powerful reminder of the impact of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
