Dilasag Aurora - A three-day Environmental Law Enforcement Training was successfully conducted from July 28 to 31, 2025, in the municipality of Dilasag, Aurora. The activity was attended by over 50 participants, including Bantay Dagat (Sea Patrol) members from Dilasag, Bantay Gubat (Forest Guards) from both Dilasag and Casiguran, as well as students from the Department of Forestry of the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT).
Atty. Marina Rabe-Manuel, TK Lawyer and Ms. Jaemy M. Villanueva, Project Officer from Tanggol Kalikasan shared their expertise as resource speakers. They discussed prohibited acts under the Fisheries Code of the Philippines, as well as key provisions from the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act, the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, and the Chainsaw Act. The training also included essential procedures such as Arrest, Search, Seizure, and Detention (ASSD); Deputation of Bantay Dagat and DENR Officers (DENRO); Administrative Adjudication; Criminal and Administrative Procedures and Affidavit writing and other documentation of environmental violations The goal of the training is to enhance the participants’ capacity on effective documentation and report preparations in cases of violations on environmental laws to a more effective and more efficient law enforcement in their respective areas.
Dilasag Mayor Romner A. Agustin delivered his welcome message, expressing his gratitude to the organizers and his full support for the efforts of the Bantay Dagat and Bantay Gubat meanwhile Dr. RB J. Gallego, IEG Coordinator of ASCOT, explained that the ELE Training was being conducted as a result of the Area-Specific Action Plan identified during the LGU Department Heads Training.
This initiative was implemented under the Environmental Justice Sector Reform Project Phase 3 (EJSRP3), with support from the U.S. Department of State – Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and the U.S. Department of the Interior – International Technical Assistance Program (ITAP).
